LA-based singer-songwriter zzzahara has dropped their new single, ‘Ghosts’. It’s a relatable, stripped-back cut about the complex emotions around being in a toxic relationship. Musically, their emotive vocals take centre stage over an accompaniment that blends grungy, mid-2000s-style electric guitars with a groovy drum pattern and almost shoegaze-esque breaks. “I was going through such a tough time, but I felt like I didn't have anyone to reach out to,” zzzahara says on the period of time leading up to recording. “When I finally sat down in the studio, I just had all this fucking anger – towards that person for treating me badly, but mostly towards myself for not walking away.” zzzahara’s new album, Spiral Your Way Out, drops on January 10th, 2024, via Lex Records. -Dan Peeke
